Do you Dry Shampoo?

In my experience, clients are constantly riddled with the question, "Should I be using dry shampoo to preserve my blowouts?" Dry shampoos are in fact meant to combat those pesky oils at the scalp that lead to a premature wash.  However, just like any hair care product, you have to utilize a dry shampoo that works best for you!

My Top 4 Dry Shampoos:

1. R+Co Death Valley $29.00

Use: Hold your Death Valley 6-8 inches from scalp and spray in the main parting. You'll want to work your way down each side of the head, sectioning about one inch at a time, and finish with your hairline.

Tip: If you are working with a fresh blowout, you can also spray Death Valley all over for extra body and texture!

Who: Death Valley is a true (and extreme) dry shampoo. It is not meant for the faint of heart! The consistency can be quite heavy on fine hair textures, and prolonged use in between shampoos can cause a gritty feeling at the scalp. I would recommend Death Valley on medium to thick hair to extend the life of beautiful blowouts!

2. Oribe Thick Dry Finishing Spray $39.00

Use: Thick can be used as a finishing spray, light dry shampoo, or during your blowout as the heat helps boost the volumizing benefits. Spray anywhere on the scalp to plump, lift, and absorb oils. Or spray on mids to ends for separation and maximum fullness and volume.

Tip: Available in purse size (2.2 oz./ $22), so you can get that bump anytime!

Who: Thick can be used by anyone, anytime, but is really geared towards those truly fine and thin hair types. The active ingredient, Panthenol, swells the hair shaft and volumizes the hair.
3. Bed Head Oh Bee Hive! $19.99

Use: The ultimate spray for texture, volume, and oil absorption! Oh Bee Hive is basically baby powder in a bottle. Use on the scalp for maximum clarifying and matte affect and in the crown for that epic tease and bump.

Tip: Oh Bee Hive is a must have for those that can rock out an updo, whether it's the perfect pony, bun, or braid.

Who:  This spray can be used on any hair type, but I should warn you it can be quite intense. O.B.H. can actually leave a white residue and has a prominent texture. I would recommend this product for medium to thick hair types but can be used for the bold individuals with thin hair.

4. R+Co Badlands $28.00

Use: Badlands is a whole new take on dry shampoo! Use your fingertips to scrape out about a dime size worth of product (add or reduce the amount as needed). Emulsify the product in your fingertips. As it warms, it will go from a grey paste to a clear liquid. Then massage the product into your scalp as if you are shampooing.

Tip: Badlands doesn't forget about the boys. Perfect for the guys that like a light, flexible hold with a matte finish. It can be used on wet or dry hair.

Who: Badlands is another that is meant for wild ones. I personally do not use this product until the very last day of my blowout (my super desperate, less motivated hair days). It can be used on any hair type but comes with a fairly distinct, gritty texture.
